The Best Reason for Homeschooling I've Ever Heard

We are walking by a small school. Safiya knows that children play there (but she does not know that it is a school for developmentally disabled children). Letting her hand glide across the fence as children do, she asks:

"Mama, why is there a fence here?"

I do my best. Schools have fences.....
She looks at me wide-eyed and says:

"But Mama, how do they go and see the world?"

no, tell her its just to stop the balls from rolling away!
but its true school seems to shut them away for so long.

That's such a sweet intelligent thing to say. I hadn't realised that you were homeschooling - it always amazes me how much people are still able to get done with their children at home...I suppose you fall into more of a routine. When I have mine at home for half-term from school and nursery I have an enormous amount of unanswered emails stacking up and a washing basket that might explode...but a lot more fun. x
