When we started talking about Hallowe'en, Safiya very promptly informed me that she wanted to be a "T-Rex dressed as a fairy", which might be the best costume idea ever. And then she looked up at me with those earnest, elf-green eyes and said "You can sew that, right Mama?"
All I have to say is, thank goodness for thrift stores...

good grief - i'm a mama that cheats at being a hero ;-)
but truly, i want to be her mama that doesn't just want to never let her down - that's setting everyone up for disaster, because i know i will disappoint her despite/because of my best efforts - i'm human. but that's not really the nugget of the matter. with all my heart i want to be able to judge when something is within my ability and when "i cannot" is the right answer. sometimes that's tricky for me. of course there are always creative ways to do things, which helps :-)

That is one costume I want to see. She certainly does have a creative imagination!!
